Types of Breast Augmentation

There are several types of breast augmentation procedures. One is to place an implant behind the breast muscle to enhance its shape and volume. At times the implant may be placed in front of the breast muscle. These are referred to as sub-pectoral and sub-muscular implants.

Additionally, during your consultation Dr. Weinberg will decide the where to make the incision. There are five forms of incision, which include below the breast, the armpit and through the areola. The type and location of the incision may depend on the size of the implant, your body, and sometimes, it may be a matter of choice.

What you Need to Know About the Procedure

Prior to Dr. Weinberg performing any type of surgical procedure, you must receive a clean bill of health. Your overall metal and physical health should be in tip-top shape, plus you must be at a healthy weight and follow a healthy diet. Being well-hydrated and informing us of any medications you may be taking is extremely important. During our consultation this will be discussed in detail to ensure you are a prime candidate for breast augmentation and/or any other breast-related surgeries (such as breast reduction, breast lift and breast reconstruction).

Breast Augmentation Recuperation

Upon completing your procedure, you will be wrapped with special bandages and discharged once we are sure that you are doing well. You may feel some discomfort, which can be addressed with pain medication our physician will prescribe. Wearing lose clothing during your recuperation will help, as well as maintaining yourself well-hydrated and nourished. Activity should be kept at a minimum until your next visit, which will be scheduled by our staff.

During your post-surgical visits Dr. Weinberg will advise you on your progress and whether you are ready to resume normal physical activity. As usual, fever, extreme pain or unusual discharge, should be reported to our office immediately. Our professional staff will make sure you have important instructions on how to care for yourself and contact information to report any abnormalities.
