• Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

With Otoplasty, or Ear Surgery, we can set prominent ears back, closer to the head, or reduce the size of larger ears. Surgery can also help with Constricted Ear Deformity, sometimes called cup or lop ear, and alleviate large or stretched earlobes, as well as lobes with large creases and wrinkles. We may also construct new ears for patients who are missing them, due to injuries or other causes.

This operation is most often performed on children aged 4 to 14 -- ears are almost fully grown by age four, and by then effective and permanent work can be done, and can help prevent social alienation for young people.

A normal otoplasty lasts two to three hours and take place in a hospital, office facility or in an outpatient surgery center. For very young children we recommend general anesthesia, while local anesthesia and sedatives are recommended for older patients and adults.
